Lyra-branded products are designed and manufactured by Lyra Co., Ltd. of Japan and include a line of high-end MC phono cartridges and other products related to phonograph record playback. Lyra has been developing and producing MC phono cartridges since 1985. All products are based on the designs & concepts of Jonathan Carr, and each Lyra cartridge model is developed by Yoshinori Mishima who is also involved in the assembly and tuning process of each and every sample.

The Lyra range of cartridges are of advanced design, employ modern high-tech materials, and are built to stringent high-precision standards. At the same time, each sample is voiced like a fine musical instrument by its builder, Yoshinori Mishima - employing a voicing process which he develops specifically for each cartridge model.

Mishima's hand-voicing procedures also enable him to compensate for variations between individual cartridge units of the same type. The aim is to produce each sample as uniform to the reference performance and sound of each model as possible. Every cartridge is listened to by Mishima repeatedly during the final adjustment and voicing process.

  • Lyra Argo

The Argo is the new entry-level model from Lyra, and replaces the discontinued Lydian Beta. [...] Technology-wise [...], the Argo shares practically nothing in common with the Lydian Beta. Rather than thinking of the Argo as an upgraded Lydian, it is more appropriate to consider the Argo as a simplified Helikon - with different physical geometry, different metallurgy and alternative voicing.

    Lyra Helikon

The Lyra Helikon is the first cartridge of Scan-Tech's fourth-generation design architecture. [...] The Helikon's most notable advance is in the elimination of as much conductive material as possible from the vicinity of the generator and gap. [This design allows] a more useable output level [...] while maintaining the accurate reproduction of atmosphere, musical timbre and detail that has become the hallmark of all Lyra phono cartridges.

    Helikon Mono

The Lyra Helikon Mono is a low-impedance moving coil cartridge that has been designed specifically to play monaural LP records in the highest fidelity possible. Much great music is available only as monaural recordings, and these outstanding performances are clearly deserving of top-quality playback. [...] The Helikon Mono shares many of the advanced structural elements as the stereo Helikon [...]. However, the Helikon Mono has a completely unique cantilever/coil/stylus assembly, and the electrical system has been designed and optimized for mono playback.

    Helikon SL

The Helikon SL is a special low-output version of the regular Lyra Helikon. It is exclusively intended for use with phono preamplifiers with particularly high gain and low noise. [...] Like the regular Helikon it is a medium-weight, medium-compliance cartridge, and was designed for use with high-quality tonearms [...]. The tonearm output cables should be connected to a dedicated phono preamplifier or phono input on a preamplifier designed for direct use by a low-output MC cartridge (0.22mV output voltage or less).

    Lyra Titan

The Titan is the new flagship model from Lyra, and is a replacement for the discontinued Parnassus D.C.t. The Titan is also the most advanced cartridge that Lyra has ever made.
